With Microsoft planning to remove Kinect from the Xbox One to make way for a faster and powerful processor, their smartphone arm however is hoping to use the motion protocol in their next generation Windows Phone platform.

The device – codenamed McLaren – was first spotted by infamous leaker @evleaks will use Nokia’s 3D Touch/Real Motion technology that will enable owners to hover their fingers above the device rather than touching the display screen. By this, games and applications interaction will be readily accessible; think of this as the same idea Sony gave the Xperia Sola and O+’s Air Shuffle. Looking at the big picture, the Nokia McLaren should succeed the Lumia 1020 in terms of size and camera.

The underlying procedure of the 3D Touch will be its sensors; a multitude, to say the least and each will help the device to do a bevy of Kinect-like abilities, like placing the Smartphone on the table to enable speakerphone mode or cancelling or ending a call when the device is replaced in the user’s pocket. Although Microsoft is already looking at developers to use the systems on their applications, 3D Touch will at first be a dedicated system and will not be available to other companies. And this is just the tip of the iceberg; hovering options to use the camera, profile changes and by a simple grip of the device will most likely be blessed with 3D Touch.

If sources prove to be legitimate in some way or another, the Nokia McLaren will be formally introduced by November, including third party 3D Touch apps. The “Goldfinger” is expected, too.
